The Role

We seek to add a number of roles to our existing highly motivated team of Classroom Support Assistants, who have a positive attitude towards supporting young people with SEND. The role is to provide support, motivation and guidance to students in lessons and to help pupils overcome barriers to their learning. These will include supporting literacy and numeracy interventions.

The successful candidates will be required to provide academic, emotional and social support to young people to help them overcome barriers to learning, ensuring that individual pupils engage more effectively in learning and participating in the life of the school. Candidates will have the ability to identify specific barriers and implement a range of strategies to support both basic skills and access to the curriculum under the guidance of the SENCo and class teachers.

We can offer the successful candidate an opportunity to work with a highly trained, supportive and experienced SEN Team. We have a whole school commitment to professional development as we believe that development of staff is a key aspect in raising standards for our pupils. As a member of the Wade Deacon Trust, we can offer the successful candidate numerous exciting opportunities to further develop their career.

You will be joining the Academy at a very exciting point along its journey to excellence. In March 2022 the school was judged to be ‘Good’ for the second consecutive time by Ofsted and we have been oversubscribed for the last two years.

In this report, Ofsted have highlighted the following about our school:

·        Pupils said that Halewood Academy is a caring community.

·        Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and learning.

·        Pupils achieve well, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

·        Leaders take positive action to support the workload and wellbeing of staff.

·        Staff are proud to work at Halewood Academy.

The successful candidate will be pivotal in our journey to outstanding.

You will be given full support in your career development as we believe that development of staff is a key aspect in raising standards for our students. You will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD. We are committed to professional development and have a strong track record of supporting colleagues to progress in their careers.

The Wade Deacon Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory medical clearance.
